16-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies In Crash With SUV On McCall Road In Englewood
CHARLOTTE COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol announced a motorcyclist died after being struck by an SUV on South McCall Road in Englewood Monday night.
The report states that a 41 year old man from Port Charlotte was driving a sport utility vehicle eastbound on South McCall Road (CR 776) in the left turn lane approaching the intersection with Coliseum Boulevard.
At the same time a 16 year old Male from Port Charlotte was heading west on South McCall road, also approaching the intersection with Coliseum Blvd.
At 9:02 PM the driver of the sport utility vehicle attempted to turn left onto Coliseum Blvd., driving across the westbound lanes and traveling directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the SUV striking right side of the vehicle.
After the collision the motorcycle came to a stop on laying on it's left side in the intersection of 776 and Coliseum Blvd., facing east.
The SUV came to a controlled stop on the east shoulder of shoulder of Coliseum Blvd. on the sidewalk.
The injured motorcyclist was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and pronounced where he later died on Tuesday the 15th.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the accident.
The driver of the SUV was not injured during the crash, and FHP has stated the accident remains under investigation.
