18 Year Old Man From Englewood Dies Trying To Cross I-75
MANATEE COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol announced a pedestrian died after being struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Interstate 75 Sunday night.
The accident happened as a 28-year-old man from Miami Lakes was driving northbound on Interstate 75 in a Dodge Ram pickup truck Sunday evening, near the overpass of Buckeye Road in Manatee County.
As the pickup truck continued north an 18-year-old man from Englewood FL was attempting to cross I-75 on foot and was nearing the grassy shoulder.
The driver of the pickup truck moved to avoid slower traffic that was backing up due to a separate traffic accident that occurred and failing to see the pedestrian turned directly into the path of the man.
At 8:50:00 PM, the front of the pickup truck crashed into the man.
After the crash, the man was immediately taken to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
FHP has stated the crash remains under investigation.
