19 Year Old Sarasota Motorcyclist Killed On Bee Ridge Road
SARASOTA FLORIDA - Florida Highway Patrol announced one man was killed on Bee Ridge Road Thursday evening.
The crash took place as 19 year old motorcyclist Jett Wong of Sarasota was traveling eastbound on Bee Ridge Road at a very high rate of speed on a 2015 Yamaha FZ09 motorcycle closing on the intersection with Worcester Road.
At the same time 68 Year Old Donald Hartery of Sarasota was stopped in the center turn lane of westbound Bee Ridge Road in a 1997 GMC Suburban, full-sized SUV.
At 8:16PM Hartery attempted to make a left turn driving directly into the path of the rapidly approaching motorcyclist.
The motorcycle crashed into the right rear side of the GMC Suburban at speed.
Despite wearing a helmet Jett Wong died as a result of the crash and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Hartery was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
