4 Injured In 3 Car Crash Crash On Beneva Rd In Sarasota Saturday
SARASOTA FL - Florida Highway Patrol announced a 4 people where injured Saturday morning after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash at Beneva Road and Gulf Gate Drive.
The crash took place as a 21 year old man from Myakka City was driving a GMC pickup truck with a passenger heading southbound on Beneva Road approaching the intersection with Gulf Gate Drive, late Saturday morning.
As the GMC truck approached from the north, a 70 year old man from Sarasota was northbound in the northbound left turn lane at the intersection with Gulf Gate in a Toyota Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle.
On Gulf Gate Drive, A 59 year old man from Sarasota driving an Issuzu SUV, was lawfully stopped at the intersection with Beneva Road attempting to turn right as the GMC pickup truck closed on the intersection.
At 10:57 AM the 70 year old driver of the Toyota Highlander SUV proceeded to turn left across Beneva onto Gulf Gate, however the 21 year old driver of the GMC pickup truck proceeded straight through the intersection and the two vehicles collided. The front of the pickup truck crashed into the right side of the Toyota SUV. The force of the impact cause the Toyota Highlander to spin and crash into the Isuzu SUV stopped at the intersection waiting to turn right.
Both the 21 year old driver from Myakka City of the GMC, and the passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The 70 year old Sarasota driver of the Toyota SUV was critically injured.
The 59 year old Sarasota driver of the Isuzu SUV also sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
