4 Travelers Injured In Bradenton After Minivan Crashes Into Semi
BRADENTON FL - Florida Highway Patrol announce 4 people were injured after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on State Road 64 in Bradenton.
The accident began as 39 year old truck driver Chad Getchell of Geneva FL, was stopped at the intersection of State Road 64 and interstate 75 in the left turn lane on SR 64 facing east in a 2006 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer.
As Getchell waited for clear traffic, 43 year old John Craw of Muncie Indiana was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and approaching the intersection also on eastbound SR 64 in the left lane.
At 11:24 AM Muncie turned left from the left lane of eastbound SR 64 into the left turn lane of the intersection with the I-75 on-ramp and failed to stop before colliding into the rear of the Freightliner semi truck. After the front of the minivan impacted the back of the trailer the minivan came to a stop facing east.
The driver of the minivan, John Craw was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Blake medical center for treatment.
Passengers, 32 year old Melissa Craw, 2 year old Murphy Craw, and 4 year old Lincoln Craw all of Muncie Indiana, suffered minor injuries and were also transported to Blake medical center.
Chad Getchell, the driver of the truck, was not injured.
John Craw has been charged with careless driving. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and driver and all passengers of the Chrysler were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
