5 Times That Amusement Park Visits Went Horribly Wrong

People flock to Florida amusement parks year-round, and who can blame them? These spots are fun, to say the very least, with all of their rides. Many folks hop on them for the thrills. There is just something about a roller coaster flying around the track that gets the blood pumping. However, sometimes, things go wrong, accidents happen, and people get hurt.

Their fun days in the sun turn into nightmares.

Most of us don't view amusement parks as dangerous. Instead, we picture them as places to enjoy ourselves and cut loose. Yes, the majority of the time, these revelations hold true, but that isn't always the case. That is why this post will focus on five times that amusement park visits went wrong. Then, readers will be able to see how risky these trips can be for themselves.

Before we get to the incidents, let's discuss injuries. When someone gets hurt because of an amusement park owner or worker's negligence, they may be entitled to fair compensation for their damages. Attempting to get the negligent party to pay up can be easier said than done, but it doesn't have to be, not with the help of a personal injury attorney.

So, if you sustain injuries at an amusement park because of negligence, please, don't hesitate to give us a call.

Our firm offers free case evaluations. You shouldn't have to break the bank just to determine where your claim stands. Additionally, you only pay if you win. It doesn't get much better than that. Now, it is time to move onto the five amusement park tragedies.

The Sand Blaster

In 2018, two riders took a 34-foot plunge to the ground after the Sand Blaster ride derailed in Daytona Beach, Florida. There were also people left hanging from a car and stranded on the coaster. Trauma alerts were issued for the two patrons that fell, and, in total, six out of the ten passengers got sent to the hospital. The ride had previously failed two inspections, but the problems were said to have been resolved before the incident occurred.

The Superman Tower Of Power

The Superman Tower of Power is a free-fall ride that stands about 200' tall. 13-year-old Kaitlyn Lasitter visited Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in the summer of 2007. She rode the attraction for thrills but got way more than that when a cable snapped. It severed her legs, cutting between the feet and ankles. One foot was able to be reattached, but the other couldn't be saved, and it was eventually amputated.

  • The Ride Of Steel

In Syracuse, New York, at Darien Lake Theme Park there is a ride called The Ride of Steel. This claimed Sergeant James Hackemer's life at 29-years of age. While he was in Iraq, he had lost his legs. So during this tragic day, he wasn't wearing his prosthetics and was thrown from the ride near its last hill and killed. A wrongful death lawsuit was eventually filed and the family won.

  • Tennessee Ferris Wheel

That's right; even ferris wheels can be dangerous. This incident took place in 2016 at the Tennessee county fair. A mechanical failure was likely to blame for making a basket with three girls flip. They fell approximately 49-feet to the ground and sustained severe injuries, including a broken arm and a traumatic brain injury.

  • The Fireball

The Ohio state fair housed The Fireball, a pendulum ride, in 2017. Unfortunately, on July 26th of that year, a malfunction occurred, and seats became dislodged from the swinging arm. The incident claimed one life and left seven people with injuries.

We aren't trying to scare you or rain on your parade. By all means, go and have fun at Florida's amusement parks. After all, that's why they are there. However, if tragedy strikes while you're in the Sarasota / Bradenton area on Florida's west coast, contact the personal injury attorneys who have won more than $500 million dollars for their clients, and get your free case review today.

Client Testimonials

Attorney David Goldman has been exceptional in the process of helping me through the case. He has always been easy to reach, whether by phone or email, and has thorough knowledge and explains clearly in depth so you feel safe and confident in your lawyer

I used Michael Babboni and his paralegal, Nicole Moore for a legal matter. They went above and beyond my expectations. During the entire process there was constant communication with both Michael and Nicole. They were extremely organized and on top of my case, which I am very grateful for. Michael truly had my best interests at heart and he was very genuine. I plan on referring Michael to all family and friends and will continue to use him in the future.

I dealt most with Mr. Fernandez. I didn’t know a lot about this process. He took the time to speak with me individually, in person, to explain everything. It was very helpful to actually know and understand the process and what to expect. He closed my case quickly, which was nice that it was not prolonged! I appreciated his hard work and getting me what I felt I deserved after my car accident. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs an honest and reliable lawyer to assist you with your case!

I hired Mr. Walsh after an automobile accident this past March. He and his entire staff were extremely professional. They kept me informed every step of the way and settled my case in a timely manner. Thank you so much for your help.
