6 People Injured In Crash On River Road In Englewood
Englewood FL - Florida Highway Patrol reported multiple people were injured in a pickup truck vs SUV crash on River Road Sunday.
The accident happened as a 40-year-old man from Remus Michigan was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle southbound in the left lane of River Road in Englewood, approaching the intersection with Winchester Blvd. Also riding in the SUV, were two young children, a 7-year-old girl from Venice Florida, a 5-year-old boy from Venice Florida, and a 54-year-old woman from Venice Florida.
At the same time, a 54-year-old woman from Venice was driving a pickup truck northbound on River Road in the right lane also approaching the intersection with Winchester Blvd., with A 56-year-old man from Venice in the passenger seat.
At 4:43:00 PM the driver of the SUV with the young children attempted to make a left turn from River Road onto Winchester Blvd., and drove directly into the path of the oncoming pickup truck.
The front of the pickup truck collided with the right side of the sport-utility vehicle at speed, and both vehicles came to a stop near the scene of the crash.
Both the 5-year-old boy, and 7-year-old-girl were critically injured in the crash.
The 40-year-old man who was driving the SUV, and the 54-year-old woman from Venice who was a passenger in the SUV were both seriously injured in the accident.
Both the driver and passenger of the pickup truck suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
