A Two-Vehicle Accident Kills Bicyclist On Bee Ridge Road and Honore Avenue
Sarasota County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one man is deceased after an accident in Sarasota Saturday morning.
According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a sedan driven by a 75-year-old woman from Sarasota with a female passenger age 77 from Sarasota, was traveling west on state road 758 (Bee Ridge Road) on the left turn lane, approaching Honore Avenue.
The second vehicle, a sport utility vehicle was driven by a 28-year-old man from Sarasota from Sarasota, was traveling east on State Road 758 on the right lane, approaching the intersection with Honore Avenue.
As the two vehicles approached, a 59-year-old man from Sarasota, Florida was riding a bicycle and had stopped on the sidewalk, at the southeast corner of the intersection.
At 10:55 A.M., the first vehicle, a sedan attempted a left turn at the intersection and failed to yield the right of way. In doing so the sedan collided with the sport utility vehicle.
The sport utility vehicle was redirected toward the corner of the intersection and collided with the pedestrian on the bicycle.
The pedestrian was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased on 8-2-22
The crash remains under investigation.
