Bradenton Bicyclist In Critical Condition After Hit And Run Crash On Cattlemen Rd In Sarasota
SARASOTA COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol reported a cyclist was in critical condition after being struck by a car Sunday morning.
The crash took place as a 48-year-old man from Bradenton Florida was riding a bicycle, heading north in the bike lane of Cattlemen Road south of the intersection with Brown Lane.
As the cyclist continued north, a vehicle described as a red Hyundai sedan was approaching.
At 10:57:00 AM, the driver of the Hyundai failed to stay within their lane and swerved toward the right then collided with the concrete curb.
After striking the curb the sedan over-corrected to the left and entered the bicycle lane and crashed into the cyclist, critically injuring him.
After the crash the driver of the Hyundai fled the scene and later abandoned the car about 2 miles from the scene of the collision.
