Bradenton Man Dies In Crash After SUV Overturns Into Retention Pond At I-75 and SR 70
MANATEE COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol announced a fatal, single-vehicle accident occurred Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Interstate 75 and State Road 70 in Bradenton, Manatee County.
According to a report provided by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), an 86-year-old man from Bradenton was driving a sport utility vehicle south on the Interstate 75, approaching the #217-mile marker exit ramp.
As the driver approached a right curve on the roadway, north of State Road 70, he failed to properly negotiate the curve. This led the vehicle to travel off the roadway, where it entered the grass median. Subsequently, the vehicle collided with a concrete culvert and overturned into a retention pond.
FHP stated that unfortunately, the 86-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida was unable to exit the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
