Injured At Work! Breaking Down The Top Hazardous Professions In Florida

When we go to work in the morning, we want to make it home safe and sound at night. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for all Florida professionals, and accidents do occur at work each and every day. These accidents can be caused by any myriad of reasons, but they leave workers wondering what to do next. Having a personal injury attorney on your side experienced in worker’s compensation and workplace injury cases gives you your best chance at receiving the compensation you need to recover fully. Without a workers compensation and workplace injury attorney, you may be facing a long road to recovery with not enough help to get you there.

There are some professions in Florida that are more prone to workplace accidents than others, although any professional may find themselves with a workplace illness or injury even if working in a traditionally “safe” environment. Some of the top hazardous professions in the state of Florida, those who are likeliest statistically to suffer a workplace accident, illness, or injury, are:

• HVAC – Heating, cooling, and refrigeration mechanics and installers are in high demand in the state of Florida. Perhaps not always on the heating side, but cooling and refrigeration in Florida temperatures are important. In the United States, HVAC professionals have suffered 37 fatal injuries and 6,830 nonfatal injuries during the year 2016.

• Construction work – Construction work may work on high, non-secured, and partially finished buildings, they may work with dangerous chemicals, and they may need to use dangerous pieces of equipment just to complete their work on a day to day basis. It’s easy to see how working in this field can lead to accident, injury, or illness. During the year 2016, there were 50 fatal and 3,530 nonfatal injuries, most largely due to slips, trips, and falls.

• Electricians – Electricians are considered their own facet of the construction field, as they’re doing quite a different job than those who would be painting or building a home within the area. However, most accidents that occur to electrician professionals are due to slips, trips, and falls just like those in other facets of the construction field. In 2016, 79 fatal and 7,790 nonfatal injuries affected those in the field.

• Landscaping professionals – Landscaping professionals also see a number of injuries each year in the United States, including Florida. To keep Florida beautiful, landscaping professionals are hired both publicly and privately to manicure the lawns, gardens, and public spaces throughout the state. During 2016, 30 fatal injuries and 1,320 nonfatal injuries affected landscaping professionals, many largely due to overexertion in the heat and bodily reaction.

• Drivers – Whether chauffeur, taxi drivers, truck drivers, or any other sort of driver, this is a surprising profession in the “dangerous” professions list. Many don’t consider that getting into a vehicle is one of the most dangerous things we do on a regular basis, and these professionals spend most of their days on the road. During the year 2016, professional drivers suffered 60 fatal and 2,730 nonfatal injuries while on the job.

Whether you’re going to work at the construction site, or making the drive to the office, it’s important to remember that no single person is completely safe from suffering a workplace illness or injury. Client Testimonials

Attorney David Goldman has been exceptional in the process of helping me through the case. He has always been easy to reach, whether by phone or email, and has thorough knowledge and explains clearly in depth so you feel safe and confident in your lawyer

I used Michael Babboni and his paralegal, Nicole Moore for a legal matter. They went above and beyond my expectations. During the entire process there was constant communication with both Michael and Nicole. They were extremely organized and on top of my case, which I am very grateful for. Michael truly had my best interests at heart and he was very genuine. I plan on referring Michael to all family and friends and will continue to use him in the future.

I dealt most with Mr. Fernandez. I didn’t know a lot about this process. He took the time to speak with me individually, in person, to explain everything. It was very helpful to actually know and understand the process and what to expect. He closed my case quickly, which was nice that it was not prolonged! I appreciated his hard work and getting me what I felt I deserved after my car accident. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs an honest and reliable lawyer to assist you with your case!

I hired Mr. Walsh after an automobile accident this past March. He and his entire staff were extremely professional. They kept me informed every step of the way and settled my case in a timely manner. Thank you so much for your help.
