Fort Myers Man Dies After Being Struck By Oncoming Car on Bayshore Rd West of Washington Drive
Lee County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has died after being struck by an oncoming car in Lee County Wednesday Evening
According to the report by FHP, the fatal accident occurred as a sport utility vehicle was traveling east on State Road 78 (Bayshore Road) and was driven by a 31-year-old woman from North Fort Myers with a passenger age 2 also from Fort Myers.
The second vehicle, a pickup truck, driven by a man age 78 from Fort Myers was stopped/ parked in the eastbound lanes of Bayshore Road, west of Washington Drive. The man was standing outside of his vehicle.
At 9:15 P.M. The front of the sport utility vehicle collided with the rear of the pickup truck and the man standing outside his vehicle was struck.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the sport utility vehicle was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
