Fort Myers Man Killed After Being Hit While Crossing Tamiami Trail Saturday Night

NORTH FORT MYERS – Florida Highway Patrol announced a pedestrian has died after being struck by two vehicles.

The crash occurred Saturday night as a 32-year-old man from Fort Myers was attempting to cross North Tamiami Trail (State Road 739) at the intersection with Mariana Avenue.

As the man proceeded to walk westbound across State Road 739, two vehicles were approaching the intersection with Mariana Avenue from the north on Southbound State Road 739.

At 11:33:00 PM at night a sedan driven by a 19-year-old woman from Fort Myers failed to see the pedestrian crossing the road in the dark and the front of the car collided with the man in the travel lanes.

After being hit by the car, the pedestrian was then struck by the undercarriage of a car driven by a 32-year-old woman from  Fort Myers.

The first vehicle came to a controlled stop on State Road 739, however, the second vehicle was located at a residence in North Port Myers.

After being struck by the vehicles, the pedestrian came to a final rest in the travel lanes of State Road 739.

The man  was pronounced deceased at the scene, and FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation
