Four People Injured In A Car Accident On University Parkway & Lakewood Ranch Blvd.
LAKEWOOD RANCH FL - FHP announced four people were injured after being involved in a car accident that took place Thursday afternoon on University Parkway at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
The crash happened as a 77-year-old man from Palmetto was driving a sedan westbound in the left turn lane of University Parkway at the intersection with Lakewood Ranch Boulevard during a red turn arrow light.
As the car was approaching the stoplight, a 40-year-old man from Sarasota was driving a pickup truck towing a trailer with a 37-year-old male passenger from Bradenton Florida, and another male passenger of un-stated age heading eastbound in the center lane of University Parkway approaching the intersection at Lakewood Ranch Blvd., at a green light.
At 1:53 PM, the man from Palmetto driving the car attempted to turn left despite the red turn light just as the pickup truck towing the trailer entered the intersection.
The front of the pickup truck collided with the right side of the sedan.
After the crash, both the car and the pickup truck came to a stop in the area of the collision.
The 40-year-old man from Sarasota who was driving the pickup truck was seriously injured in the accident. The two passengers in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
The 77-year-old man from Palmetto who was driving the car also suffered minor injuries during the accident.
All parties involved had been wearing seat belts during the crash.
