Hit and Run Leaves Bicyclist In Critical Condition On East Bay Street Near Old Venice Road
Sarasota County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person is in critical condition after a hit and run accident in Sarasota County Tuesday Afternoon.
According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a dark silver sedan was traveling westbound on East Bay Street approaching the school crosswalk (marked with flashing yellow lights and yellow signage).
The Bicyclist was traveling northbound within the aforementioned crosswalk on East Bay Street.
The dark silver sedan failed to stop for the pedestrian and struck her right side with the front of the sedan.
The pedestrian and the bicycle came to a final rest within the westbound travel lane of East Bay Street.
The dark silver sedan fled the scene in a westbound direction of East Bay Street. The vehicle is described as a dark silver in color sedan with windshield and front end damage.
The Florida Highway Patrol is requesting anyone with information on this Hit and Run crash to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers.

The Acura Sedan was located by the Florida Highway Patrol on 08-17-2022 in Hillsborough County.
The 65-year-old man from Osprey, driver of the Acura Sedan was located on 08-17-2022 and arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail on Hit and Run w/ Serious Injuries, and Tampering w/ Evidence charges.
The 13 year old female pedestrian was pronounced deceased on 08-28-2022 by staff at All Children’s Hospital.
There were additional charges for the driver of the Acura Sedan of “Leaving the Scene without Rendering Aid Involving Death” (316.027 (2) (Felony Warrant)
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide and Hit and Run Investigations Section are currently working on this case.
