Man Critically Injured in Pickup vs Tractor Trailer Crash At Punta Gorda
CHARLOTTE FLORIDA - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a man was critically injured while being involved in a crash at Port Charlotte during early Friday morning.
The crash happened as a 52 year old man was driving a Pickup Truck while traveling southbound on U.S 41 approaching the intersection of Mandalay while from the northerly direction.
At the same time a 27 year old man from Punta Gorda was northbound on US 41 approaching the Pickup Truck from the south.
At 5:38 A.M the driver of the Pickup Truck steered to the left and entered the paved medium. The left front of the vehicle struck the rear left side of the Tractor Trailer. The Pickup Truck came to a controlled stop on U.S 41 facing a southerly direction while the Tractor Trailer stopped in the paved medium of U.S 41 while facing a northerly direction.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported by EMS to a local hospital in serious condition. The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed in the crash.
The pick up truck driver was charged with failing to drive within a single lane.
During the crash the driver of the pickup truck reported that he looked at his central console area.
