Man Dies After Being Ejected From SUV Onto I-75 Near Brandon
Brandon FL — FHP has announced that a man has died after being involved in a crash on Interstate 75.
The crash began Thursday morning as 56-year-old woman from from Clearwater was driving a Land Rover SUV on the eastbound entrance ramp from the Selmon Expressway to northbound I-75.
As the Land Rover continued on the ramp, a 50-year-old from Temple Terrace was traveling in a Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle on the I-75 / State Road 60 access ramp nearing the merge area.
At approximately 11:40 a.m driver of the Land Rover failed to negotiate the curve, left the roadway briefly and entered the I-75 / State Road 60 access ramp.
The Land Rover slammed into the side of the Toyota SUV, causing both vehicles to travel over the grass shoulder.
The Toyota SUV violently overturned onto Northbound Interstate 75 causing the 50-year-old man from Temple Terrace to be ejected from the vehicle.
First responders transported the Temple Terrace man to an area hospital for emergency treatment, however he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The 56-year-old woman from from Clearwater was not injured in the crash.
Traffic on Northbound I-75 was backed up for hours after the deadly accident.
