Man Dies In Crash On Bass Road Near Fort Myers
LEE COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol, reported one person died after the SUV they were driving collided with a tree Friday morning.
The accident took place as a 71-year-old man from Fort Myers was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle heading southbound on Bass Road, approaching the intersection with Bayberry Bend.
For reasons unknown, at 12:00AM Friday morning, the man lost control of the SUV and drifted off the roadway to the right.
The SUV crashed into a tree on the western shoulder of Bass Road, then caught fire.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by EMS.
