Man From Bradenton Dies After Being Hit By Truck On Stickney Point Road
SARASOTA FL - Florida Highway Patrol reported that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck Friday night while attempting to cross Clark Road.
The deadly crash began as a 63-year-old man from Bradenton Florida was on foot at near the intersection of Stickney Point Road (State Road 72 west of US 41) and US 41 (Tamiami Trail). The pedestrian entered the roadway on Stickney Point Road, and began to travel north in an attempt to cross Stickney Point Road.
As the man walked across the intersection, a 21-year-old woman from Sarasota was driving a pickup truck eastbound on State Road 72, approaching the intersection with Tamiami Trail at a green traffic signal in the center lane.
At 8:38:00 PM, the pedestrian entered the path of the oncoming pickup truck and was struck by the right side of the front of the vehicle.
The pedestrian came to rest while still in the intersection, and after the collision, the driver of the pickup truck came to a stop.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.
FHP has stated at the crash remains under investigation.
