Motorcyclist Dies After Being Hit By Left-Turning SUV In Bradenton On SR 70

BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol announced a Man from Bradenton was killed after being struck by a Sport Utility Vehicle while riding a motorcycle on 53rd Avenue West Friday afternoon.

The fatal accident happened as a 59-year-old man from Bradenton was traveling east on State Road 70 (53rd Avenue West), in the right lane approaching the intersection with 52nd Avenue Terrace West.

On the opposing side of State Road 70, a Sport Utility driven by a 25-year-old woman from Bradenton traveling with 3-year-old child was traveling west in the left lane, also approaching 52nd Avenue Terrace West.

At 4:42:00 PM, the driver of the SUV attempted to make a left turn, and traveled directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist.

The SUV collided with the motorcyclist fatally injuring him, and first responders pronounced the man deceased at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries, but fortunately the young passenger was not hurt in the crash.

FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
