Motorcyclist Dies After Crash On 21st Street East In Palmetto Tuesday Night
Palmetto Florida - FHP has announced that a motorcyclist has died after a collision on 21st Street East Tuesday Evening.
The accident occurred as a 28-year-old man from Palmetto Florida, was riding a motorcycle traveling west on the grass shoulder of 21st Street East, approaching the intersection of 12th Avenue East.
At the same time a sedan, driven by a 58-year-old man from Palmetto, Florida, was traveling eastbound on 21st Street East, preparing to make a left turn onto 12th Avenue East.
As the sedan was preparing to turn left (north) onto 12th Avenue East, the motorcycle entered the roadway traveling west attempting to cross 12th Avenue East.
At 6:40 PM, the driver of the sedan failed to see the oncoming motorcyclist and attempted to turn onto 12th Avenue East, crossing directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist. The front of the motorcycle collided with the right side of the sedan.
After the initial collision, The motorcycle rotated and the 28-year-old man from Palmetto was thrown from the motorcycle.
FHP states that the motorcyclist came to rest within the intersection and was later pronounced deceased by first responders.
After colliding with the motorcycle, the sedan rotated and came to a controlled stop on the northbound lane and east grass shoulder of 12th Avenue East.
Florida Highway Patrol has stated that the case remains under investigation.
