Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Van On US 41 In Palmetto Sunday Afternoon
Manatee County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one man is dead after a motorcycle accident early Sunday Morning in Palmetto Florida.
The report states that the accident was located on US-41 South of 43rd Street East in Palmetto Florida.
The driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash was a 53-year-old man from Ellenton, Florida.
The second vehicle, a van, was driven by a 51-year-old man from Palmetto, Florida.
The FHP's release states that the motorcycle was traveling south on US 41 in the inside lane going south of 43rd street east. The van, driven by the was stopped on the paved median turn lane preparing to travel south on US 41.
The motorcycle veered left at 4:55 P.M., entered the grass median, and collided with a yield sign, then the motorcycle continued south and collided with the right side of the van.
After the impact with the van, the 53-year-old man from Ellenton driving the motorcycle became separated from the vehicle and came to rest on Southbound paved shoulder of US 41.
The motorcyclist was later pronounced deceased.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
