One Person Seriously Injured In I-75 Crash South Of Bee Ridge In Sarasota
SARASOTA - Florida Highway Patrol reported a crash on Interstate 75 Monday afternoon that has left one person was in serious condition and two others hurt.
The accident happened as a 24-year-old woman from North Port was driving a sport utility vehicle on the left lane northbound interstate 75 with a 64-year-old passenger from Cape Coral, and a 40-year-old man from North Port south of Bee Ridge Road.
At the same time a 54-year-old man from Brandon was traveling some distance behind the SUV driving a pickup truck.
At 1:23:00 PM the SUV encountered slower traffic on the highway and slowed, however, the 54-year-old driver of the pickup truck failed to reduce speed for the slower traffic and swerved to avoid a crash.
In the attempt to avoid a collision the pickup truck over-corrected and the front of the pickup truck crashed into the right side of the sport utility vehicle.
The impact from the pickup truck caused the SUV to overturn before it came to a stop on the right lane of the Interstate.
The 64-year-old passenger of the SUV was in serious condition after the crash, both the driver of the SUV and the 40-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries inf the car accident.
The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt in the accident and FHP has stated the crash remains under investigation.
