Palmetto Man Killed In Box Truck Crash Wednesday Evening


PALMETTO FL – Florida Highway Patrol reported one person died after being involved in a accident with a box truck Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred as a 48 year old Man from Palmetto Florida was driving a sedan south on US 41, south of 33rd Street West in Palmetto.

At the same time a box truck being driven by a 37 year old man from Bradenton was approaching from the opposite direction, northbound in the wright lane.

The Palmetto driver entered a curve in the road that swerved to the left, and the box truck entered the same curve from the opposite direction. At 6:30:00 PM, the driver of the sedan failed to negotiate the curve, lost control of the car and traveled across the median into the path of the oncoming box truck.

The front of the box truck collided with the right side of the sedan in the right lanes of northbound US 41.

The force of the crash knocked both the car and the truck into the median where the vehicles came to a stop.

After  coming to a stop the vehicles caught on fire.

The 48 year old Man from Palmetto who drove the sedan died in the crash, and the 37 year old man from Bradenton who drove the box truck sustained minor injuries.

FHP stated the crash remains under investigation.
