Palmetto Woman Dies After Crash On 301 Blvd East Saturday Night

BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol has announced a fatal single-vehicle crash Saturday night.

The accident began as a 61-year-old woman from Palmetto was driving a pickup truck heading west on 301 Boulevard East, approaching the intersection with US-41 (1st street).

Also traveling as a passenger in the pickup truck was an 11-year-old girl from Palmetto.

At approximately 9:02pm, the driver of the pickup may have suffered a medical event, which caused them to swerve to the right and drive off the roadway onto the shoulder.

After leaving the roadway the pickup truck traveled into a ditch and crashed into a culvert.

First responders transported the 61-year-old woman to Manatee Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
