Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Multiple Vehicles On US 301 Saturday


MANATEE COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol announced a man from Bradenton was struck and killed while attempting to cross US 301 Saturday evening.

The crash happened as a 52-year-old man from Bradenton was walking across US 301, heading westbound, near the intersection with 30th Ave E.

As the pedestrian proceeded across the lanes in the failing light of evening, three vehicles were approaching from the north.

A sport utility vehicle was driven by a 20-year-old man from Sarasota, followed by two unknown vehicles.

At 6:24:00 PM, the SUV collided with the pedestrian. After being struck by the SUV, the pedestrian was then hit by the undercarriage of the unknown vehicle following immediately behind the SUV.

The pedestrian was then struck by the third vehicle also unknown.

After crashing into the pedestrian the second and third vehicles fled the scene, continuing on southbound US 301.

Vehicle 3 was described, as possibly being a light-colored Sport Utility Vehicle.
