Punta Gorda Man Injured When Tractor Trailer Overturned On I-75 In Sarasota Thursday Morning
Sarasota County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one man was injured when the tractor trailer he was driving overturned while traveling southbound on I-75 (state road -93) near Mile Marker 191.5, North of N. River Road Thursday morning.
According to FHP, the accident began as a tractor-trailer driven by a 37-year-old man from Punta Gorda, Florida was traveling southbound on Interstate-75 (state Road-93) mile marker 191.5 north of N. River Road in the right lane.
The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to maintain control of his vehicle, causing it to run off the roadway to the right (west).
The driver then slid across the roadway in a southeast direction, causing the roof of the tractor-trailer to be peeled up. As a result, the oxygen tanks which the tractor-trailer was carrying were ejected out of the enclosed box in a southeast direction.
The vehicle came to a final rest on its right side on the southbound left lane of Interstate-75 (State Road-93) Mile Marker 191.5 north of N. River Road and partially on the left paved shoulder facing in a northeast direction.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate this traffic crash.
