Recall List: Fiat Chrysler Recalling Ram Pickups
It has been reported that Fiat Chrysler has recalled over 186,000 of their Ram Pickups due to the floor mats interfering with the gas pedals. This recall covers specific 2019 and 2020 models that have factory-installed floor mats. The recall is mainly in North America, but some Ram 1500s in Canada and Mexico have also been affected by this specific issue.
The company has also said that all Ram Pickup owners should immediately remove the all-weather floor mats from their vehicle. This is in case they see that there is no adequate space between the mats and the gas pedal or if they cannot immediately get their truck to the dealer. Also covered under this Fiat Chrysler recall are more than 43,000 mats sold after the trucks were purchased.
According to Fiat Chrysler, there have been no reported crashes or injuries due to these floor mats as of yet. The FCA estimates that less than one percent of the recalled vehicles actually have this problem.
However, the recall has been issued, and owners are urged to take their trucks into the dealership as soon as possible. This helps prevent any other issues from coming up unexpectedly. Fiat Chrysler stated that the adjustable pedals could be positioned in a way that would leave clearance between the pedals and floor mats to fix the problem.
The recall occurred because of an investigation prompted by a customer complaining about the floor mats interfering with the gas pedal. If you are a Ram owner, you can check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website to see if your specific vehicle happens to be included in the recall.
What Are My Rights?
If you found that your Ram pickup is included in the recall list, you need to take action immediately. After all, no one wants to get injured in an auto accident due to the fault or defect. Under federal law, the manufacturer must provide every affected consumer with a solution for fixing the problem. It is within your rights as a consumer to ask for a free fix of the recall problem.
Depending on the defect, the manufacturer can do three things. They can choose to repair the vehicle free of charge, replace the vehicle free of charge, or refund the purchase price minus depreciation.
If you have been injured because of a defective part or vehicle, you can file a civil suit for any injuries or damages you may have incurred as a result. That is your right as an injured party.
