Sarasota Man Dead After Scooter Accident Monday Morning

Sarasota County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a man has died after a scooter accident occurred early Monday morning in Sarasota.

FHP stated that the accident was located on Glen Meadow Drive south of the intersection with Forest Hills Circle in Sarasota.

The driver of the scooter was a 56-year-old man from Sarasota Florida.

The report states that the accident occurred as the scooter was traveling southbound on Glen Meadow Drive, just south of Forest Hills Circle approaching a left curve in the road.

At 6:48:00 AM, for reasons unknown, the driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and failed to negotiate the curve.

The scooter drove off the roadway toward the west, where it then crossed over the concrete sidewalk and drove onto the grass shoulder.

After entering the shoulder the scooter then overturned throwing them from the scooter where he came to rest still within the grass shoulder of Glen Meadow Drive.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by the Sarasota County Emergency Medical Service.

Florida Highway Patrol Traffic has stated that an ongoing investigation by the Vehicular Homicide Unit is underway.
