Sarasota Man Dies After Being Hit While Crossing US 41 Sunday Night
SARASOTA - Florida Highway Patrol reported that a man has died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross US 41.
The accident took place as a 75-year-old man from Sarasota was driving a pickup truck heading south on US 41 north of Upper Glencoe Avenue traveling in the inside lane. A 26-year-old woman from Nokomis Florida was traveling as a passenger in the pickup truck.
As the pickup truck traveled south, a 35-year-old man from Sarasota was walking on US 41 heading from the east side of the road to toward the west side.
At 9:47:00 PM, the pedestrian entered the path of the oncoming pickup truck and was struck by the right side of front of the vehicle.
The driver came to a stop and authorities pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene of the crash.
Neither the driver of the pickup truck nor the passenger were imjured in the crash.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
