Sarasota Man Dies After Crashing Into Boat On I-75 Near Clark Road
Sarasota County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person has died after an auto accident in Sarasota Sunday Night.
According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as a pickup truck towing a boat on a trailer was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 driven by a 42-year-old man from Sarasota.
Also in the pickup truck were 4 passengers, a 42-year-old woman from Sarasota, an 89-year-old woman from Naples Florida, and two young boys ages, 10 and 13.
Following behind the pickup truck towing the boat was a Sport Utility Vehicle driven by a 47-year-old man from Sarasota Florida.
At 10:20:00 PM as the vehicles approached mile marker 205for reasons unknown, the driver of the SUV crashed into the rear of the trailer. The front of the pickup truck collided with the back of the boat on the trailer and the impact of the crash caused the sport utility vehicle to overturn at speed, onto the shoulder of Interstate 75, near Clark Road.
After overturning, the driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle.
The man was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation by authorities.
