Sarasota Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash On Cortez Rd In Bradenton
BRADENTON FLORIDA - FHP announced on person was killed in a motorcycle crash on state road 64 in Bradenton Wednesday evening.
The crash happened as 30 year old Seiji Esquivel of Sarasota Florida was riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle westbound at a high rate of speed on State Road 64 (Cortez Road) in the left lane approaching the driveway for a Denny's restaurant at 684 Cortez Road.
As Esquivel was approaching from the west, 39 year old Michael Ray O'Brian of Sarasota was driving a 2016 Ford SUV eastbound approaching the driveway at 684 Cortez road in the left lane.
At 6:42pm O'Brian attempted to turn left across State Road 64 and drove directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist.
Esquivel crashed into the right rear side of the Ford SUV hard enough to cause the vehicle to rotate clockwise.
After colliding with the SUV, Esquivel was thrown from the motorcycle and the motorcycle continued on coming to a stop on it's right side in the left lane of westbound SR64.
The Ford SUV after being spun by the impact continued on a short distance to the north before coming to a stop facing the south in the Denny's parking lot.
Motorcyclist Seiji Esquivel was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Esquivel was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor in this accident.
