Sarasota Pedestrian Stuck And Killed Crossing Fruitville Road
SARASOTA - Florida Highway Patrol announced one person was killed after being struck by a car on Fruitville Road Wednesday night.
The crash happened as a 43-year-old man from Sarasota was attempting to walk across westbound Fruitville Road from the median, west of the intersection with Avant Avenue at night.
As the man was walking across the roadway a sedan driven by a 39-year-old man from Sarasota was approaching from the east in the right lane of traffic.
At 7:37 P.M. the pedestrian walked into the path of the oncoming car and was hit.
The left front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.
After crashing into the pedestrian, both the car and the pedestrian came to a stop in the right lane of Fruitville near the area of the collision.
The pedestrian died from his injuries sustained in the crash.
FHP has stated the crash remains under investigation
