Sarasota Woman In Critical Condition After Crash With Dump Truck On Lorraine Road
SARASOTA FL - Two people were injured Monday morning when a port Utility Vehicle Collided with a Dump Truck in Sarasota.
The crash took place as a 46-year-old woman was driving a Honda SUV heading north on Lorraine Road approaching the stop sign at the intersection with Clark Road.
As the Honda SUV approached the intersection, a 58-year-old man from Sarasota was driving a Dump Truck heading west on Clark Road (State Road 72).
At 7:30:00 AM, the woman drove the Honda SUV into the intersection just as the dump truck was approaching.
The driver of the dump truck attempted to evade the SUV by turning toward the right (North).
However, the front of the dump truck collided with the right side of the SUV.
After crashing into the Honda SUV, the dump truck rotated in a counter-clockwise direction and overturned onto the grass shoulder of Clark Road.
After being struck by the dump truck the Honda SUV came to a stop on the grass shoulder facing to the northwest.
The 46-year-old woman from Sarasota who drive the SUV was in critical condition after the crash.
Despite the dump truck overturning, the driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
The report from the FHP also states that the driver of the SUV violated the right-of-way of the truck, and that both the drivers involved had been wearing seat belts during the crash.
