Sleeping Pedestrian From Sarasota Dies After Being Struck By Pick-Up In Bradenton
BRADENTON - Florida Highway Patrol reported a deadly collision involving a sleeping Pedestrian and a Chevy Pick-Up truck early Monday morning. The crash took place north of the SRQ airport near the Bayshore Gardens neighborhood at the intersection of Bayshore Gardens and 62nd Drive West.
The crash began as the Chevy Pickup Truck, driven by a 40-year-old man from Bradenton was driving eastbound along Bayshore Gardens while approaching a slight curve by 62nd Drive West. At the same time, a 68-year-old from Sarasota was sleeping past the curve along the grassy shoulder on the right side (eastbound lane) of the roadway.
At 4:50 A.M the vehicle accidentally exited the roadway and drifted into the grassy median. The front part of the Pickup Truck ran over the 68-year-old man and came to a stop while facing south within the grassy area directly over the pedestrian. The pedestrian was then pronounced deceased by Manatee County EMS.
Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit Remained at the Scene as they continued to investigate the traffic accident. No next of kin notification was given out for the fatally injured pedestrian.
