Tractor-Trailer Rear-Ends BMW Seriously Injuring 3 On I-75 In Sarasota
Sarasota County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that two people are in serious condition and One person is in critical condition after an auto accident in Sarasota County Friday Morning.
According to the report by FHP, the crash began as a semi tractor-trailer heavy commercial truck driven by a 50-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, was traveling south on Interstate-75 on the center lane approaching mile marker 207.
A (BMW) sedan driven by a 21-year-old man from Wisconsin with two passengers, a 36-year-old woman also from Wisconsin, and a 21-year-old woman from Brazil, were traveling south on Interstate 75 at a slower speed, in front of the semi.
At 4:55 A.M. The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to slow down for the sedan, and the front of the semi collided with the rear of the BMW.
Following the collision, The BMW was propelled forward and rotated, then traveled onto the west shoulder of southbound I-75, where the vehicle came to a stop.
The driver of the BMW and the passenger from Wisconsin were seriously injured in the crash. The woman from Brazil was critically injured during the collision. All injured occupants of the BMW sedan were transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the semi-tractor-trailer was not hurt in the crash.
Officials from the FHP have stated that the crash remains under investigation.
