Truck Driver Died After Semi-Crash On I-75 In Near River Road
SARASOTA COUNTY - Florida Highway Patrol announced one person has died after a truck accident on Interstate 75 south of the River Road exit Friday morning.
The crash took place as 60 man from Port Saint LucieFL was driving a semi-tractor trailer northbound on Interstate 75 in the center lane approaching the exit at River Road.
At 6:10:00 AM for reasons unknown, the driver drifted out of the lane and drove the heavy commercial truck into the grassy median.
The tractor-trailer drove over the cable barrier between the Highway lanes and continued to travel northbound in the median.
The semi-tractor trailer drove about 1,500 feet northward on the median before finally coming to a stop directly against the cable barrier, with the truck facing northeast.
The truck driver was taken to Venice Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investication.
