Two Dead And One Critically Injured After Head-On Collision On SR 62 In Manatee County
Manatee County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that two people have died after a head-on auto accident in Manatee county Monday Afternoon.
According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began as the first vehicle a four-Door Sedan driven by an unidentified person was traveling westbound on State Road 62 (Wauchula Road), east of Saffold Road.
A second vehicle, also a Four-Door Sedan driven by a 35-year-old man from Bowling Green Florida, with a 30-year-old woman from Bowling Green Florida, as a passenger, was traveling eastbound on State Road 62, east of Saffold Road.
At 4:49 P.M. The driver of the first vehicle traveled into the eastbound lane of State Road 62, while attempting to pass slower westbound traffic, and entered the path of the oncoming 4-door sedan. Both vehicles collided in a head-on crash at speed.
The first vehicle overturned onto the eastbound shoulder of State Road 62. The second vehicle rotated after the initial collision and traveled onto the eastbound shoulder of State Road 62.
The Driver of the first vehicle and the passenger of the second vehicle have been pronounced deceased. The driver of the second vehicle was critically injured in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate this fatal traffic crash.
