Two Killed And 5 Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash On US 41 Near Seagate Dr


MANATEE COUNTY -Florida Highway Patrol announced two people lost their lives, and 5 others were injured in a crash on U.S. 41 just south of Seagate Drive Monday evening.

The deadly crash took place as, a 77-year-old woman from Ft. Mitchell Kentucky, and a 78-year-old man from Erlanger Kentucky was driving a Nissan sedan in the parking lot of a business located along U.S. 41 just south of the intersection with Seagate Drive.

At the same time, two vehicles were traveling on the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 approaching the intersection with Seagate at the 8400 Block of U.S. 41.

The vehicles included a Volkswagen sedan driven by a 24-year-old man from Bradenton, with an 18-year-old woman from Bradenton.

Traveling directly beside the Volkswagen was a BMW sedan, driven by a 28-year-old man from Bradenton, with a 31-year-old male passenger.

At 7:37:00 PM Monday evening, the 77-year-old woman from Kentucky driving the Nissan sedan exited the parking lot and attempted to turn left onto southbound U.S. 41.

The front of the Volkswagen sedan, collided with the left side of the Nissan at speed.

After being hit by the Volkswagen, the Nissan crossed into the second lane of travel and crashed into the right side of the BMW.

The Nissan sedan came to a stop in the left travel lane of U.S. 41 facing north. The Volkswagen came to a rest in the right travel lane of U.S. 41 facing to the northeast.

The driver of the BMW was able to bring his car to a controlled stop in the right lane of U.S. 41 facing north.

Manatee County EMS pronounced both the 77-year-old woman from Kentucky, and the 78-year-old man from Kentucky deceased at the scene of the crash.

Both the 24-year-old male driver and the 18-year-old female passenger of the Volkswagen sedan were seriously injured in the crash.

Both occupants of the BMW sedan suffered only minor injuries during the accident.

The report states that a Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the accident.
