Two Motorcyclists Died In Crash At US 41 / US 19 Interchange

MANATEE COUNTY – FHP announced a man and a woman died after a motorcycle accident Thursday morning.

The accident took place as a 42 year-old-man from Palmetto was riding a motorcycle southbound on U.S. 41 approaching the interchange with U.S. 19.

Also on the motorcycle as a passenger was a 48 year-old-woman from Palmetto.

The motorcyclist entered a left curve, and at 7:30:00 AM lost control of the vehicle.

The driver failed to negotiate the left curve and drove the motorcycle southwest off the roadway onto the grass shoulder.

After traveling over the grass median, the motorcycle continued on through the interchange and crossing over the southbound lanes of U.S. 19, where they crashed into a tree line.

After the collision with the tree, both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were thrown from the motorcycle and came to a stop in a wooded area.

Manatee County EMS responded to the accident and pronounced deceased at the scene.
