Two Motorcyclists Killed After Crash With SUV On SR 72 Saturday
SARASOTA COUNTY - FHP has reported a man has died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle was struck by an SUV.
The crash took place as a 58 year old man from Sarasota, a was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound with his passenger, a 54 year old woman from Sarasota on state road 72 near Sidell road Saturday afternoon.
At the same time a 29 year old woman from North Port was driving a Chevy sport utility vehicle westbound also on state road 72 approaching the oncoming motorcyclist.
At 5:19 P.M. the SUV drifted across the center line into the eastbound lanes directly in front of the oncoming motorcycle and crashed into the vehicle head on.
Both the driver and passenger of the Harley Davidson were pronounced deceased on scene by the Sarasota County EMS.
The driver of the Chevy SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash.
FHP has stated criminal charges are pending and an investigation is ongoing.
Both the motorcyclists were wearing helmets during the time of the crash.
