Two People Injured After Crash On I-75 Near Clark Rd In Sarasota
SARASOTA - Florida Highway Patrol announced two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 Monday afternoon.
The Crash occurred as a 35-year old man from Bradenton was driving a sedan heading south in the right lane of I-75, north of Clark Road.
Also traveling south near the sedan was a pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old man from Sarasota with a 68-year-old woman from Bradenton.
As the two vehicles headed south on I-75, a semi-tractor trailer driven by a 38-year-old man from Land O Lakes Florida was in northbound I-75 heading north in the center lane approaching the other two vehicles adjacent to the northbound lanes.
At 12:55:00 PM, the 35-year-old man from Bradenton attempted to change lanes, going from the right lane to the left lane. The left side of the sedan crashed into the right side of the pickup truck.
The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to overturn rolling into the median before finally coming to rest in the northbound lanes of I-75 as the semi-tractor-trailer approached the area of the crash.
Debris from the overturning pickup truck was vaulted into the northbound lanes of I-75 and the oncoming semi-tractor trailer struck the debris.
While both the driver of the pickup truck and the passenger were seriously injured in the crash, the driver of the sedan who may have caused the accident was unharmed.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was also unharmed in the accident.
FHP has stated that all parties had been wearing their seatbelts during the crash and that the accident remains under investigation.
