Two Women Seriously Injured In SUV Crash On US 19 In Palmetto
Manatee County - Florida Highway Patrol has announced that two people are in serious condition after an SUV vs SUV accident early Wednesday morning in Manatee County.
The crash began as a 32-year-old woman from Bradenton Florida was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle northbound in the right lane of US 19 south of the intersection with 52nd Street West.
As the woman from Bradenton traveled north toward 52nd Street West, a 35-year-old woman from St Petersburg was driving an SUV southbound in the left lane of US 19 north of the intersection with 52nd Street West.
For reasons unknown at 7:30 A.M., the 32-year-old from Bradenton swerved off the pavement and traveled across the median entering the path of the oncoming SUV driven by the 35-year-old woman from St Petersburg.
The two SUVs crashed into each other head-on. After crossing the median and crashing into the other SUV, the northbound SUV was redirected to the west and overturned in a ditch west of US 19.
The force of the crash caused the southbound SUV to rotate before it came to rest on US 19 in the left lane.
Both the driver of the northbound and southbound SUVs were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals for emergency medical treatment.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
