PORT CHARLOTTE FL- Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a man has died while involved in a fatal car accident at Port Charlotte early Tuesday morning.
The crash happened as 69 year old William Slater of Port Charlotte was driving a 2016 Nissan Versa eastbound from Hollis Avenue while facing the stop sign at the intersection with EL Jobean Road.
At the same time 30 year old Zahid Butt, of Venice FL in a new 2020 Leandro model Land Rover SUV, was driving southbound in the left lane on El Jobean approaching the intersection of Hollis Avenue.
At approximately 5:12 am, Slater, the driver of the 2016 Nissan Versa failed to observe the Sport Utility Vehicle approaching and entered the intersection.
