What To Expect From The Most Common Auto Accident Injuries

Getting into an auto accident is never something a person plans for their day, and being involved in an accident can ruin a lot more than a day alone. After an auto accident, you’ll need to consider the injuries suffered, the damage to your vehicle, and working out damages with your insurance provider before those mounting bills can be paid. After an auto accident in the state of Florida, you’re not out of the woods just yet, and you’ll likely be dealing with the ramifications of the accident for some time.

In some cases, an auto accident may not cause any injuries at all. In these situations, a person may not have to deal with the healing process after the accident, but they’ll still need to work out compensation for the damages to their vehicle, lost time at work, and other complications brought about by the accident itself. While it may not sound lucky, these are the “lucky” motorists.

For others, auto accidents in the state of Florida can cause injuries ranging from the minor and easily healed to those that are life altering or deadly. Some of the most common injuries experienced in auto accidents, and what one may expect from them are:

• Whiplash – Whiplash is something of a “blanket term”. It actually refers to the muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries that happen due to the force an accident places on the body. This trauma strains soft tissues without breaking bones, and whiplash in particular usually refers to these injuries occurring in the neck or shoulders. Whiplash may not set in immediately, and it’s something that you could begin feeling days after an accident has occurred. A bad case of whiplash can even cause lasting pain requiring prolonged medical care.

• Cuts and scrapes – When one thinks about cuts and scrapes in an auto accident, they typically think of those caused by glass after a windshield or window breaks. However, while this is a major cause of cuts and scrapes, it’s not the only cause. Flying projectiles in the car may also cause cuts and scrapes, as can broken plastic or metal pieces in the vehicle after a collision. While cuts and scrapes aren’t often thought of as a “serious” injury, they can lead to serious infection complications. With cuts and scrapes, one may be required to get stitches and take a course of antibiotics in order to heal safely and properly.

• Broken bones – Broken arms, legs, wrists, and even ribs are equally common and painful when discussing auto accident injuries. A car accident causes unnatural amounts of force on your body, which can lead to bones breaking just as it may lead to soft tissue injuries (like in the case of whiplash.) Broken bones may heal with a cast or splint, or they could require surgery to set and heal properly. A broken bone case can cost a motorist or passenger thousands of dollars in medical care.

• Traumatic brain injuries – Traumatic brain injuries are another common injury suffered in Florida car accident cases. These injuries can vary widely, and two people in the same vehicle can suffer wildly different stages of traumatic brain injury. A mild traumatic brain injury may heal on its own in a matter of days to weeks, while a severe traumatic brain injury can cause permanent disability or death. The ongoing cost of a traumatic brain injury can be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical care alone.

• Internal bleeding – Not all bleeding is bleeding you can see. In the event of a car accident, internal bleeding can occur for a number of reasons. Seeking immediate medical attention after a car accident case is important in making sure no internal injuries are present.

Client Testimonials

Attorney David Goldman has been exceptional in the process of helping me through the case. He has always been easy to reach, whether by phone or email, and has thorough knowledge and explains clearly in depth so you feel safe and confident in your lawyer

I used Michael Babboni and his paralegal, Nicole Moore for a legal matter. They went above and beyond my expectations. During the entire process there was constant communication with both Michael and Nicole. They were extremely organized and on top of my case, which I am very grateful for. Michael truly had my best interests at heart and he was very genuine. I plan on referring Michael to all family and friends and will continue to use him in the future.

I dealt most with Mr. Fernandez. I didn’t know a lot about this process. He took the time to speak with me individually, in person, to explain everything. It was very helpful to actually know and understand the process and what to expect. He closed my case quickly, which was nice that it was not prolonged! I appreciated his hard work and getting me what I felt I deserved after my car accident. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs an honest and reliable lawyer to assist you with your case!

I hired Mr. Walsh after an automobile accident this past March. He and his entire staff were extremely professional. They kept me informed every step of the way and settled my case in a timely manner. Thank you so much for your help.
