At 2nd Chance Ranch & Rescue, every animal matters. Nestled just outside of Parrish in Duette, Florida, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit serves as a sanctuary for animals of all kinds—horses, goats, pigs, alpacas, turtles, bunnies, ferrets, and many more—many of whom have been abandoned, surrendered, or simply have nowhere else to go.
While some animals are adopted into new homes, for most, 2nd Chance Ranch becomes their forever home, where they receive safety, nourishment, enrichment, and care tailored to their unique needs. From daily feedings and grooming to building new enclosures and trimming nails, volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the ranch is a peaceful, permanent haven.
Beyond providing compassionate, lifelong care, the organization offers mobile petting zoos and party visits, helping connect the wider community with their rescued animals in a joyful, educational way. And while ranch tours are temporarily on hold, the mission to connect humans with animals continues—on wheels, in classrooms, and at celebrations across the area.
How You Can Help
Whether you’re an animal lover, skilled builder, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, there are many ways to get involved:
- Volunteer on the Animal Care Team (cleaning, feeding, building, event support)
- Sponsor an animal for as little as $10/month
- Donate to programs like Healing Road, which provides medical care for animals with special needs
- Honor a loved one or pet with an Honor Card or memorial
- Inspire the next generation—children can host lemonade stands, supply drives, or birthday parties that benefit the animals
For those who want to leave a lasting impact, 2nd Chance Ranch also offers Legacy Giving options through wills, trusts, life insurance, and more.
“At the Ranch, when something is donated—it goes into a needy animal’s paws almost immediately. There’s no warehouse. Just compassion in action.”
