SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (Nokomis/Laurel area) – A collision between a van and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality at the intersection of En Theos Lane and State Road 681, near Isla Palma Lane.
According to investigators, the van (Vehicle 1) was stopped in the left turn lane on En Theos Lane at the SR-681 intersection. At the same time, the motorcycle (Vehicle 2) was traveling south on SR-681, approaching a yellow flashing traffic signal near Isla Palma Lane.
The van proceeded into the intersection and entered the path of the approaching motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle collided with the van within the intersection.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. Positive identification is pending.
The crash remains under active investigation.
